WHY DO WE NEED PICTURE ME?
The Writing Themselves In 4 and Private Lives 3 reports, highlight the unique challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ young people in rural and regional Australia. Social isolation, discrimination, and limited access to resources disproportionately impact their well-being and opportunities.
By developing networks and peer support opportunities we create a more equitable and supportive environment for young LGBTQIA+ people outside major urban centres.
Our goal is to create a safe and inclusive space for LGBTIQA+ people living in rural and regional areas to celebrate their identities, build community, and access resources. By uniting our community in experimentation we can establish long-lasting networks that continue after our event.

ABOUT US
Picture Me has been organised by a group of participants from the Pride In Action – Leading In The Workplace program at the Victorian Pride Centre. Inspired by our gender journeys, we valued opportunities to discuss our gender identities with others like ourselves and find allies in our communities. These opportunities are not found as easily by regional queer people.
We are driven to create these opportunities for others in regional communities throughout Victoria, beginning with our first Picture Me event in Gippsland.
